Plant toxicity and edibility disclaimer

Toxicity information is reported from cited sources and is necessarily incomplete. A plant marked "unknown" has no cited toxicity record; that does not mean it is safe. A plant listed as non-toxic may still cause irritation, an allergic reaction or illness in an individual person or animal.

Don't rely on this site to decide that a plant is safe to eat. Edibility depends on correctly naming the species, the plant part, ripeness, preparation and individual sensitivity, and mistakes can be fatal. Never eat a plant, or feed one to an animal, based on information found here.

Nothing on this site is veterinary, medical, legal or professional advice. If you suspect poisoning of a person or animal, stop reading and contact emergency services, a physician, a veterinarian or a poison control center immediately.
